Researchers study permafrost in the Yukon River basin.

HEALING THE RIVER

With their lands and waters in peril, Native Tribes and First Nations in Canada and Alaska joined forces to protect the Yukon River basin from contamination by military, mining and municipal sources.

Yukon Currents traces the birth and growth of this grassroots tribal environmental movement, which has become a global model for ecosystem protection. A team of filmmakers documented their story of hope and inspiration for more than a decade.
